Range / Slider

The range / slider question type lets respondents choose a number along a range / slider. You can set any number as the start of the slider and any number as the end. You can also choose the number of scale points and the start position.

A number will always be selected on the slider, so determine a neutral starting position on the slider by choose the starting position as left, centre or right.

How to add a range / slider question

01 When on the ONFORM editor, click the "+" button and select "Question"

A new question block will then load

02 Click on the "Question Type" dropdown and select "Range / Slider"

03 Add your question in the "Question" box

This is the question that will be asked, and which respondents will choose a point on the slider in response to.

04 Adjust the scale range (optional)

Click the “Options” tab, and then click the “Adjust scale & start pos.” toggle. You can set the start number and end number of the scale along with the step.

You can choose any number for the start, and any number for the end of the scale. Typically range / sliders use use a scale of 1 – 10, 0 – 10, or 0 – 100, but you can use any numbers.

The step is the number of points that can be selected between the start and end numbers. For example, if the start number was 0 and the end number 10, with a step of 1, then 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 10 could be selected. If the scale was set at 2, then 0, 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10 could be selected.

05 Adjust the scale points and start position (optional)

Click the “Options” tab, and then click the “Adjust scale & start pos.” toggle. You can change the scale and the start position.

The scale is the number of points that will display on the range / slider. For example, if the start number was 0 and the end number was 10, then a scale of 11 would display these numbers of the range / slider: 0, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10.

The start position can be left (start of the scale), centre (in the middle of the scale) or right (end of the scale).

06 Adjust additional settings as necessary by clicking the options tab and choosing the relevant settings
