Checkbox

The checkbox question type lets respondents select multiple answers from a list of choices. Respondents can choose any number of answer options, plus there’s also the option of allowing respondents to add their own custom response.

You can add as many answer choices as you like – although if there are lots of answer choices then you may want to use the single dropdown question type instead.

The checkbox question type is very versatile, and works well in most polls, surveys, forms and questionnaires.

Here’s an example of the checkbox question type:

Displaying aggregate data

The checkbox question type works great with the Poll+ and Poll / Survey form types as it will display aggregate data (just like the radio and rating scale question types).

Once a respondent answers a question, a percentage bar displays beneath each answer choice showing an aggregate of the number of respondents who've selected each respective answer choice as a percentage. This data is aggregated, meaning we take the number of previous responses, work out how many responses there were for each answer choice and then display the percentage. This is great for polling as a major pull factoring for a respondent to provide an answer is to see where they fit compared to everyone else.

Here's an example, showing aggregate data:

As you can see, when you choose an answer, an aggregate of the number of respondents who've selected each respective answer choice is displayed - this is a setting available for the Poll+ and Poll / Survey form types.
