Single Dropdown (Select)

The single dropdown (select) question type lets respondents select one answer from a drop-down list. This question type works great when you have lots of answer choices.

When respondents click on the dropdown, a box will appear allowing respondents to choose an answer choice. A search bar will display above the answer choices, allowing respondents to quickly search through the answer choices.

You can add as many answer choices as you need – in fact the more answer choices you have, the more this question type excels owing to the search functionality and the scrollable box the answer choices display in. The caveat is that when working with very long lists, the format should be familiar to respondents. For example, country names, state/counties, or another familiar format.

Here are some example questions using the single dropdown (select) question type:

How to add a single dropdown (select) question type

01 When on the ONFORM editor, click the "+" button and select "Question"

A new question block will then load

02 Click on the "Question Type" dropdown and select "Single Dropdown (Select)"

03 Add your question in the "Question" box

This is the question that will be asked, and which respondents can select one answer from a drop-down list in response to.

04 Add your answer choices

You can add them one-by-one or you can check the “Bulk Add” toggle to bulk add.

05 Adjust settings as necessary by clicking the options tab and choosing the relevant settings.

The available settings are:

  1. Note (allowing you to provide additional supplementary information)
  2. Required (the respondent will have to provide an answer to the question)
